The U.S. Department of Labor oversees the implementation and enforcement of federal labor laws. Its Wage and Hour Division administers the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act and parts of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
DOL also includes the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which oversees workplace safety in the United States. Rather than OSHA, Washington has opted to have state-based oversight of workplace safety, which is housed at the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
